The network marketing industry typically teaches their representatives to read a script and pursuede their prospect to sign up immediately. At this point, it is typical for both parties to not really even know each other. If there is no relationship, there is really no established trust.
Unfortunately, that method of madness doesn't create stability in the business structure and tends to leave the representative frustrated and feeling defeated. That was my original experience in this industry and I want to share what I believe to be a much better, more inviting and productive way to prospect.
My mentor, Michael Dlouhy with Mentoring for Free, taught me the following in so many words: point, don't pander. Now, this may sound silly but let me explain.
Pointing your prospects to different pieces of information, providing them with reports, audios, videos and emails will definitely allow them to make an informed decision about joining you. I personally have found great value in sharing our community over at Mentoring for Free. This is a great resources for those who want to learn more about this industry and it's 100% free to join.
Pointing others to resources goes hand in hand with human psychology. The majority of the population does not want to be sold or 'pitched' a business opportunity. Allowing your prospects to do their own research will give them the opportunity to make an informed decision as to whether or not your business is a good fit for them.
I have found this approach to be much more enjoyable and easier than the old school prospecting methods. I have found that I have been able to attract a higher quality prospect, one who is willing to learn and take the reigns ahead of time. They aren't expecting me to do the work for them as they take the time that is necessary to do their own research.
By allowing your prospects to investigate and make their own decision, you are ensuring that when someone does join you they are ready and fully informed.
