Attrition - The Dreaded Discussion of any MLM'er

0
I use to be with a company that claimed they had
95% of their shoppers come back the following month
to shop with them.

What I failed to recognize is that they were
only referring to the month following their initial membership month.

What happened to those customers AFTER their first month?

How about their SECOND, or their THIRD month?

I'll tell you what happened.

About 1/2 of them canceled their membership
after their 3rd month.

I'd say about 3% of these people were still working the business
or shopping by month #12.

That's called 'attrition' and nobody wants to talk about it in the industry.

It takes a lot of time and effort to build a downline
and when they drop out by the truckload,
it can cause a lot of heartache and frustration.

This experience forced me to take a step back
and analyze what was really happening in my business.

Was it the products?
Was it the amount required for the monthly auto ship?
Was it my presentation?
Was it my leadership?
Was it the system I was using? (or lacking)
Was it the type of people I was targeting?

I set out on a journey and discovered something pretty interesting.

It seems attrition is quite common in the industry
and the big guys at the top use the unsuspecting newbies
to stay at the top.

You see, the average Joe will go make a list of 100-150
of their closest friends and family..... (but only talk to some of them)
.....if they haven't scared them off already with their sales pitches
for the other businesses they've been involved in.

Guess what?

If YOU decide to drop out because you just get
so darned frustrated with all the dropouts.....
the guys at the top get to KEEP your customers AND
you can't do a darn thing about it because
YOU can lose your SHORTS in court if you
talk to your customers about joining you in another MLM.

Think I'm joking?

Go back and read your policies and procedures.

(YAWN)

I know, I know. But I did it and was SHOCKED at
how many things I was unaware of.

But that's a whole other topic for another day.

Anyway, back to the topic.

Since attrition was so prevalent in MLM,
I wanted to find a system that I could use
that would bring me the most retention
so I wouldn't be wasting my precious time (or theirs)
and I could build a REAL business with REAL people
and REAL long term success.

What if I told you there is a way
to target people in such a way
that they NEVER ask you
what company you're with, what products you sell
or how well you are doing in your business?

What if I told you there is a way
to plug people into a system where
they get fed and feed THEMSELVES so they can
get their head on straight and create the SOLID foundation
that is necessary for any successful business?

What if I told you there is a way to attract QUALITY leads
that are ready to join you, cash in hand,
not because of the products......
but because they see the value and genius in the system
and LOVE YOU because YOU add value and increase to THEM?

Folks, there IS a better way to build your business
and actually KEEP your downline!

It's time to start building a business on SOLID ROCK
not on SHAKY SAND! :)

You Only Have About Three Seconds to Make That First Impression

0

We're all aware of the good ol' first impression rule of thumb:

We only have ONE chance to make a FIRST impression and
we only have about 3 seconds to do it.

But what about those of us who meet others online?
What is it that's going to establish that first impression?

Take a look around and think about it for a moment.

It's nothing short of our picture!

Our picture is the very first impression that we are
leaving in the minds of those we meet online and
I want to challenge you a bit today.

Take a little look-see at your photo and ask yourself
the following questions:

1) Do I look like someone I'd like to get to know?
2) What kind of visual message am I sending about myself?
3) What kind of energy am I giving off?
ie. powerful, fun-loving, serious, professional, negative, etc
4) Do I look like someone I'd like to partner up with in business?
5) Do I look like a leader or someone who would rather hide under a rock?
6) Do I look like I take my business seriously?
7) What kinds of things do I look like I might be interested in
based on how I'm dressed?
8) Is my photo up close and personal or am I so far away that
I'm not giving people a chance to really see who I am?
9) Am I being my authentic self in my picture? ( Meaning, you're giving
people a glimpse of who you really are and not trying to be someone
else.)
10) Is this even me in the photo?

Your picture is going to make you or break you when you are first starting out
in network marketing. Of course, there is many more pieces to the pie,
but this piece is critical.

By the way, I'd like to say something about number 10.

If you don't have a picture of yourself online
and you're using a family pet, product image or
any other type of photo where everyone can see
it's clearly NOT you....
you need to change that right away.

People will join you because of YOU,
not because of your products
or the type of dog you own
or the famous movie star you have featured.

Well, I take that back.

Dog lovers are probably going to ask you about your furry friend,
but make sure you're in the picture! :-)

It really does come down to YOU.

Who are YOU?

I want to know!

We want to know!

So if you haven't done so already,
go out there and put together a great photo
that depicts the real you and invites others to
spend some time getting to know who you are.

Like attracts like.
Period!

When the Boat Gets a Bit Rocky, Do You Have a Reason to Stay Aboard?

0
If you're new to network marketing,
you're probably hearing a lot about how important
it is to write down you 'why' for working at home.

CAUTION!

Whatever you do, don't get caught up into thinking
that you know why you're working at home and
you don't need to write it down on paper.

I can't emphasize this enough:
Having in your head is ONLY the first step!

You should write it down and put it in a place
where you will SEE it and READ it OUT LOUD every day.

You should also send a copy to someone who will
hold you accountable because let me tell you,
when the boat gets a bit rocky,
you'd better have a BIG reason to stay on board!!!

This is so important that I even wrote about it
at my website. You can check it out here:

http://www.sabrinacoffin.com/developing-your-why.html

Whether you're a newbie to network marketing
or a seasoned networker,
developing your 'why' is critical to your success!

Little Girl Behind the Lemonade Stand Doesn't Sell Rotten Lemons to Innocent People

0
Photobucket

Looking back on my childhood, I can remember being the kid
who always had some creative way of making extra cash.

It was fun to set up a lemonade stand on a hot summer day,
or have a garage sale and sell all my little things I no longer wanted.
I also went around to all my neighbors, wagon in tow,
and collected their newspapers and pop cans.

Back then we could earn some pretty good cash for recycling.

As I moved on, got married and started a family,
I was still exercising that entrepreneurial spirit inside
that told me I needed to do something for myself
and not rely on a 9-5 J.O.B.

I was always thinking of different things I could do
that would keep me AT home so I could be with my kids.

That was really important to me.

It wasn't so much the cash flow as it was the fact that
my mom was able to stay home with us and
I wanted to stay home with my kids as well.

Well, it wasn't until years down the road
that I discovered the power of residual income.

I bought the most expensive pack,
loaded up with inventory
and hit the pavement running.

Being coachable, I listened to my mentors
and made a list of over 100 people in my warm market,
set up the parties, bought the leads,
spent hours upon hours on the phone and online and......
like most people, didn't see a lot of fruit for my efforts.

My upline told me I needed to work harder.

My upline told me I needed to buy more inventory
because people will buy more if they don't have to order it.

My upline told me I needed to buy more leads
and spend more time calling them.

Oh, and my 'why' wasn't big enough
and I wasn't a leader.

Hello???

I was BORN to be a leader and
my WHY is SO big, that's the reason WHY
I've continued in this industry.

The leads were GARBAGE and most of them
didn't know why I was even calling them! lol

If I bought any more product,
my husband was going to have a heart attack!

Plus, I found myself running all over town
working my 'AT home business' and I was
spending LESS time with my family.

Boy, I sure did learn some valuable lessons!

Sound familiar?

It wasn't my fault,
and it isn't YOUR fault, either!

If this sounds anything like what you have experienced
or are currently experiencing,
I'm here to tell you there is a better way.

You CAN work AT home without wasting your time and money
on calling leads and chasing people who probably don't want the products you're selling.

You won't find me talking about products.
I only give stuff away and help people who want the help.

Yet, I have people calling me up wanting to know what I'm doing.

Hmmm.......

There IS a better way and I can show you how.

Listen, if your business isn't growing the way you originally planned,
and you're feeling like a failure or just plain frustrated,
I can help you.

Give me a call anytime.

I'm here for you!

I believe in you!

He Only Made $40 BUCKS So This Ain't No Tall Tale Fishin' Story

0
My husband fishes commercially part-time to make some extra cash.

Personally, I think he secretly goes out for the thrill of it all
and the extra cash is just a bonus. But that's another story.

We live in a fishing community here in the Pacific Northwest and let me tell you,
a guy from SoCal isn't embraced by 'real' fisherman.

He's had a few articles written about him in the local newspaper that brought
great table conversation for many households around here because
he goes out in a craft that's smaller than the rest.

He raises a few eyebrows and gets mocked by some
but it doesn't stop him from doing what he loves while focusing on his goal
to help out with our dream home.

Ahhh....the home is well on it's way to break ground soon! (Doin' a little dance right now.)

But here's a little something that happened last week while Gerry was out
and it's been on my mind all week because I think it's a story that
is well worth sharing.

You see, Gerry has been fishing for years but is limited by the size of his boat.

He is only able to go out weather permitting and is pretty cautious now that
he's been through enough situations where he's had the bageebies scared out of him!

They don't call this area the 'Graveyard of the Pacific' for nothing!

So Gerry went out last week and happened to find some men that he knows
fairly well, but they never share their 'secrets' as to when and where they fish.

Well guess what....now he knows!

He was out there with all his gear and totally set up to reap the rewards for his efforts.

He fished side by side with the local fishermen that have been fishing for years and years
and know the tricks of the trade.....but don't share it with anyone for fear that someone
might 'steal' their fish.

Give me a break.

Truth be told, if you think women are bad you should hear the fisherman around
here when they get to yappin'! :) It's funny!

So Gerry fished right next to his buddies and watched them as they pulled up
fish after fish, to the tune of about $4,000 worth of Black Cod.

I'm certain it must have been gut wrenching to watch,
as Gerry pulled out with about $40 worth that day.

So you may be wondering WHY there was such a difference when both parties were in
the same area fishing for the same fish and both had quite a bit experience under their belts?

Here's the difference.

1. These guys has 2 large commercial fishing vessels, while Gerry had 1 small vessel.
2. These guys had a lot more experience than Gerry.
3. These guys were using hook and line, while Gerry was using his cod pots.
4. These guys had a crew of men, while Gerry was working by himself.
5. Both parties were fully set up, Gerry was just using the wrong equipment for that day and time.

There's probably more that I could add but you get the picture.

I have to tell you though. Gerry came back with a positive attitude and laughed about
what happened which is a true sign of someone who is going to be great at what he does.

He could have come home mad at the world and blaming those guys
for 'stealing his fish' (laughing now) but he didn't.

He came home excited about all that he LEARNED from WATCHING the big boys.

That's the kind of spirit I'm attracted to!

How about you?

Are you watching those who are bigger than yourself cast their line and reap the rewards?

Are you excited about learning from those who are bigger than yourself and applying what you learn?

Are you taking notes about what they are doing differently
and taking necessary steps to change the course you're on
so you can follow in their footsteps leading to success?

It really comes down to a willingness to learn and the humility to sit under someone else
and recognize that while someday you may be the top notch leader in what ever it is that you do,
right now may be the season where you have to watch, listen and learn from those who are masters at what they do.

Be a good learner.

Get plugged in with someone who is willing to teach you all they know and begin to surround
yourself with people who will lead you in a direction that will take you to the place you want to go.

No secrets.......

With all that being said, I truly hope you walk away from this feeling pumped up and inspired.

You CAN do whatever you set your heart and mind to!
It just takes the willingness to learn, an attitude of belief in yourself and
the active pursuit to achieve your dreams.

Have an absolutely fantastic day!

I believe in you!

Here's to your success!

Whatever You Do, Don't Get Stuck Playing the Motivation Game

0
I was conversing with one of the leaders in the network marketing industry
quite some time ago and had what I call a 'light bulb moment'.

At the time I was expressing my frustration with the number of people who
'say' they want to work at home, yet never make much of a motion to build a business.
They sign up and tell me they want to work but they never take
the necessary action to progress forward and make any money.

I explained that I just didn't understand why these people didn't seem to grasp
the power of residual income. It was becoming very clear to me that
most people weren't like me. They didn't have the drive necessary to
keep themselves focused on building their dream.

Perhaps they just didn't have the tools, system, resources
or backbone to stay in the game.

http://www.MLM-MarketingSuccess.com

I asked the following question:

"What can I do to motivate these people to get to work?"

It was at that very moment when my whole concept of leadership changed.
I was gently informed that I could never motivate anyone, I could only inspire them.

Wow! I felt a heavy burden lifted from my shoulders.

It wasn't my responsibility to get these people out of bed in the morning
or call their prospects for them. They were the only ones who could conjure up
the excitement within themselves, keep their dream alive
and continue running the race set before them.

As a leader, it is my responsibility to inspire and encourage people to stay in the game.
It's my role to teach them how to build a successful business,
provide them with resources that are critical to their success,
build them up with positive input and influence,
and ultimately remind them of their dream.

You see, motivation can only come from within.

It is the responsibility of the individual to be self-motivated.
The inspiration comes from other outside sources.
In a nutshell, if you want to succeed in network marketing
and working your home based business you will have to be self-motivated.

Nobody else is going to build the business for you.

If you are working with people in your business
and you feel like you're pushing a rope, perhaps it's time to reflect
on how much more you care about their business than they do.
You'll feel a lot less burdened if you're leading others and inspiring them,
rather than trying to motivate them.

Work with the people that want to live the dream as much as you do
and you'll find the network marketing industry to be a whole lot of fun!

Here's to Your Success!

What? You Mean I Have to Set Goals and Work this Thing?

0
Network marketing can be a lot of fun, yet quite challenging in some respects. While we want to see immediate results, the truth of the matter is, we may not see results for months to come. I want to share with you some tips of the trade that I have found to be extremely helpful in my journey of network marketing.

Set Your Office Hours: First of all, it's important to set aside a specific time of the day when you intend to work on your business. You're the boss! You can choose what hours you want to work. The important thing is to find a time during the day or evening when you can really focus on being productive.

Set Your Goals: Goal setting is extremely important for anyone who wants to move towards reaching a specific achievement. Writing your goal down will solidify your comittment towards achieving your goal. Tell someone close to you what you intend to accomplish and be sure to place your written goal in a strategic place where you will be reminded of your comittment every day.

Be Consistent: Write down five activities that you really enjoy doing on a daily basis. If you're working online, these activities could include creating a broader networking base by adding friends on your favorite social networking sites, blogging, writing quality articles, posting information online that would be of benefit to a diverse group of people, video tape yourself discussing information that would reach a target audience or break out your favorite book on personal development.

Take the 90 Day Challenge: Now that you've got your five daily activities lined out it's important to put them into action. Do these activities for 90 consecutive days and you'll be amazed at the growth in your business!

Remember, network marketing takes time and anyone who tells you that your business is going to explode overnight simply isn't being honest. It's not always the person that grows their business that has the most success. We're looking for quality people to partner with who have the desire to learn, the willingness to be teachable and the confidence it takes to press on!
